Our project in at AZV Südholstein in Hetlingen represents the transition of Planeteers from pilot testing to certified carbon dioxide removal in operation. What started as a pilot under operational conditions has become our first production unit.

Biogenic CO₂ is captured directly at point sources within the facility and processed within a closed engineered system. Through accelerated weathering of limestone, CO₂ is converted into dissolved bicarbonate under fully controlled conditions. The resulting alkalinity is discharged back into the wastewater treatment plant’s aquatic system, providing long-term carbon storage.

Since December 2025, the project has been officially validated by Normec Verifavia and listed by Isometric.

The project validates the complete chain from technology and operations to monitoring and certification. It follows the protocol for Enhanced Weathering in Closed Engineered Systems established by Isometric, ensuring that all carbon removal is monitored, reported, and independently verified.

As a result, Hetlingen serves as a transparent, third-party validated reference project for carbon removal buyers and as the operational foundation for Planeteers’ future deployments.
